For our guests traveling from Northern California, Nevada City is an easy and scenic drive from Sacramento and the surrounding region. Approximately 1.25 hours from Sacramento, and 2½–3 hours from the San Francisco Bay Area.
For those joining us from Southern California, it's just a short flight to Sacramento followed by a beautiful 75–90 minute drive through the foothills.
Guests traveling from out of state will find Nevada City well worth the journey. Its unique blend of historic elegance, natural beauty, and small-town hospitality makes it the perfect destination for a memorable wedding weekend.

Throughout the wedding weekend, The National Exchange Hotel will serve as the hub for our celebration. With most events taking place on-site and downtown Nevada City's walkable streets just outside the front door, you'll have everything you need within a few minutes' stroll allowing you to settle in, soak up the atmosphere, and experience an unforgettable destination weekend alongside your favorite people.

Is everything within walking distance?
Yes! One of the things we love most about Nevada City is how walkable it is.
The National Exchange Hotel sits in the center of downtown, making restaurants, grocery stores, wine bars, coffee shops, boutiques, galleries, and historic landmarks just a short stroll away. You'll be perfectly situated to explore without ever needing your car.
Will there be free time to explore?
Although our celebration is designed around spending time together, you'll have opportunities to discover the town Sunday evening, before the festivities begin on Monday, and after checkout on Tuesday.
If you arrive early Sunday afternoon or have a little extra time Tuesday after checkout, we highly encourage wandering through downtown Nevada City. Known for its charming streets, independent boutiques, award-winning restaurants, art galleries, and Gold Rush history it's the kind of place where every street invites you to slow down, discover something unexpected, and soak in its historic charm. We highly recommend carving out a little time to wander—you'll quickly understand why we chose this location, it's one of our new favorite places and is considered one of California's hidden gems.

If you're looking to explore, downtown Nevada City is home to several wonderful cafés and bakeries just a short walk from the hotel—perfect for a handcrafted coffee, fresh pastry, or leisurely breakfast before each days festivities or your drive home.
Join us for our optional farewell breakfast at Lola restaurant located in The National Exchange Hotel after checkout on Tuesday to enjoy one last meal together before beginning your journey home.

We highly recommend arriving Sunday afternoon to settle in and join us for the Welcome Reception that evening.
Our wedding celebration takes place on Monday, and we suggest departing Tuesday after hotel checkout. If your schedule allows, enjoy a leisurely breakfast with us before heading home.

Travel & Accommodations
Should I drive or Fly to the wedding?
Nevada City is conveniently located about 75-90 minutes from Sacramento International Airport (SMF) and just over an hour's scenic drive from Sacramento.
For our Northern California guests, driving is an easy and beautiful option, with a relaxing route through the Sierra Foothills and typically minimal traffic.
For guests traveling from Southern California or farther away, we highly recommend flying into Sacramento rather than making the long drive. A quick flight, combined with a rental car for the weekend, is often more affordable than expected—especially when taking advantage of airline sales or promotions. Once you factor in fuel costs, travel time, and the added wear of a long road trip, flying can be the easier and more enjoyable choice.
Our hope is that you arrive refreshed, settle in for the Welcome Reception on Sunday, and fully enjoy the celebration without spending an entire day or two on the road.
What airport should I fly into?
The closest major airport is Sacramento International Airport (SMF), located approximately 75–90 minutes from Nevada City by car.
Rental cars, private shuttles, and car services are all great options for getting to and from the hotel.
If you're traveling with friends or family, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND carpooling or coordinating transportation to make the journey even easier.
What is the best way to get from the airport to Nevada City?
Nevada City is approximately 75–90 minutes from Sacramento International Airport (SMF) by car.
Rental cars, airport shuttles, and private car services are all excellent options for getting to and from town. If you're traveling with or know other wedding guests, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND coordinating your travel plans and carpooling whenever possible. Sharing transportation is a great way to simplify logistics, reduce costs, and make the journey together.
----- PLEASE NOTE: Transportation is only needed for your arrival and departure. Once you're in Nevada City, you likely won't need a vehicle. Our wedding events are centered at The National Exchange Hotel, and downtown is wonderfully walkable, with restaurants, cafés, grocery stores, boutiques, and local attractions all just a few minutes away.
Because your stay is short, downtime and parking in the historic downtown area is somewhat limited, there is little advantage to each guest having their own car. We encourage traveling together whenever possible so you can relax and enjoy the weekend from the moment you arrive.
Will transportation be provided during the event?
Because the majority of our wedding festivities will take place at The National Exchange Hotel, guests staying at the hotel will not need transportation during the celebration.
If transportation is required for any scheduled wedding event, like the After Party, it will be provided. Outside of the planned festivities, transportation is optional. While rideshare services are available, they can be limited at times, so we recommend planning accordingly if you anticipate needing to travel beyond downtown Nevada City.
For most guests, simply check in, settle in, and enjoy the weekend—everything you'll need is just a short walk away.
Is parking available?
Yes. Parking is available for all hotel guests and within the surrounding downtown area. As Nevada City is a charming historic town, space is limited and can be difficult to find during peak hours. We recommend carpooling and consolidating transportation as you will only need your vehicle to and from the venue and not throughout your stay.
---- PLEASE NOTE: Much of the downtown street parking is metered with coin-operated parking meters, preserving the town's historic character. If you plan to park on the street, we recommend bringing coins or being prepared to make change if needed.
How late will the celebration go? What if I need to leave Monday night?
Our wedding day is designed to be an unforgettable experience, with thoughtfully curated moments from beginning to end. From the ceremony and cocktail hour to dinner, dancing, and a late-night after-party, the celebration will continue well into the evening.
While we completely understand that some guests may have travel or work commitments, we encourage you to stay for as much of the celebration as your schedule allows. Each part of the day has been intentionally planned, and we'd truly love for you to experience it all.
--- If possible, we strongly recommend staying Monday night. After a full day of celebrating—and for many, enjoying a few cocktails—we don't recommend driving home late. Booking a room allows you to relax, fully enjoy the evening, avoid navigating dark rural highways and wake up refreshed for an easy departure on Tuesday morning.
Most of all, we want you to know that this celebration was created with the people we love in mind. Your presence means the world to us, and it simply wouldn't be the same without you. Whether you're able to stay for the entire evening or need to depart a bit earlier, we're so grateful you'll be there to celebrate with us.

We've reserved a variety of room types within our wedding room block to accommodate different preferences, group sizes, accessibility needs, and budgets. Whether you're looking for a cozy retreat or a more spacious stay, there's a room designed to suit your needs.
One of the many things we love about The National Exchange Hotel is that no two rooms are exactly alike. As a beautifully restored historic landmark in the heart of Nevada City, each guest room has its own unique character, thoughtfully blending timeless architecture with refined vintage luxury.
In keeping with the hotel's historic charm, The National Exchange offers an intentionally "unplugged" experience. Guest rooms do not include televisions, but each features a vintage-style radio, complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, and all the modern comforts needed for a relaxing stay. Feel free to bring your laptop or tablet if you'd like to stream your favorite shows, though we have a feeling you'll be too busy celebrating, exploring town, and making memories to miss them.
We encourage booking early, as each room is one-of-a-kind and availability within our room block is limited.

What dates should I book for my hotel stay?
Our wedding celebration officially begins on Sunday, October 4, 2026, and concludes on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.
To enjoy the full wedding weekend, we recommend booking your stay for all dates. This allows you to join us for the Welcome Reception on Sunday evening, celebrate with us on Wedding Day Monday, and enjoy a relaxed departure after checkout and our optional farewell breakfast on Tuesday morning.
If you're only able to stay one night, we strongly encourage booking Monday, October 5. After a full day of festivities, dinner, dancing, and celebrating, you'll be able to unwind and enjoy the evening without the need to drive home late.

A Monday celebration allows us to slow down, spend meaningful time together, and enjoy one of California's most enchanting historic towns without the rush of a traditional weekend. We hope you'll turn it into a memorable escape of your own.
Can I bring my children?
While we adore your little ones, our wedding will be an adults-only celebration. With space limited and events primarily suited for adults there will not be opportunities for the little ones to truly enjoy themselves.
We appreciate your understanding and hope you'll enjoy a relaxing weekend celebrating with us.
Can I bring a guest?
With a small venue and limited space, only the guests whose names appear on your invitation are included in our celebration. Thank you for helping us keep our guest list intimate.
Will dietary restrictions be accommodated?
Of course.
Please include any dietary restrictions or food allergies when submitting your RSVP. We'll work closely with the venues culinary team to ensure every guest is well taken care of.

Where will the wedding events take place?
Our wedding celebration will be centered at the beautifully restored National Exchange Hotel, a historic landmark nestled in the heart of downtown Nevada City.
From the Welcome Reception to the Wedding Ceremony, Cocktail Hour, Dinner, and Reception, nearly every moment of the celebration will take place at the hotel. One of the many reasons we chose this venue is for its seamless, all-in-one experience—allowing you to stay, celebrate, and immerse yourself in the charm of one of California's most beloved historic destinations, all without needing to leave the property.
What is the dress code?
Black Tie.
This is your invitation to embrace the glamour of the evening. Think Academy Awards, Cannes Film Festival, and timeless elegance.
Gentlemen are encouraged to wear a tuxedo with formal shoes and a black bow tie. Black suit and tie also welcomed.
Ladies, this is the perfect excuse to wear the gown you've always wanted to debut. Floor-length evening gowns are encouraged, paired with elegant accessories and polished evening attire.
We hope you'll enjoy the opportunity to dress up and celebrate in style. Come ready to party in your finest—we can't wait to see everyone dressed for the occasion.
Can I wear cocktail attire?
We're kindly asking all guests to honor our Black Tie dress code. This helps create the elegant atmosphere we've envisioned and ensures everyone feels part of the experience.
What should I bring to wear besides formal attire?
Nevada City's historic streets are part of its charm, featuring original brick sidewalks, stone pathways, and uneven streets dating back to the Gold Rush era.
For walking around town exploring throughout the wedding weekend, we recommend comfortable footwear, summer attire, and light layers.
What type of shoes should I wear to the wedding?
The ceremony and dinner will take place in the hotel's courtyard, where a small portion of the space is grass.
For gentlemen, traditional formal dress shoes are perfect. For ladies, heels are absolutely welcome—we simply recommend heel protectors (grass guards) if you're wearing stilettos for added comfort and stability during the ceremony or another pair of shoes when your feet feel tired - it'll be a long day.
The cocktail hour, reception, and other wedding events will take place on solid surfaces, so you can confidently wear your favorite formal footwear throughout the evening.
Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?
While most of the celebration will be indoors, some portions of the festivities may take place outdoors (weather permitting), allowing guests to enjoy the hotel's beautiful spaces and the charm of historic Nevada City.
We recommend bringing a light wrap or jacket for the evening, as temperatures can cool after sunset.
What will the weather be like?
Early October is one of the most beautiful times of year in Nevada City, it typically brings warm afternoons and crisp evenings.
Daytime temperatures often range from the mid-70s to low 80s, while evenings can cool into the 50s and 60s. We recommend bringing a light wrap, shawl, or formal coat for outdoor wedding festivities and a light coat for all other evenings.
What time should I arrive for the ceremony?
We recommend arriving 30–45 minutes before the ceremony for local guests to allow time to park, settle in, find your seat, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings before the festivities begin. For hotel guests arriving 15-20 minutes before the ceremony is recommended to allow time to mix, mingle, and settle in.

Should I unplug during the ceremony?
Yes, we invite you to be fully present with us as we exchange our vows.
To help create an intimate and distraction-free ceremony, we're planning an unplugged ceremony and kindly ask that phones, cameras, and other devices remain tucked away until the ceremony has concluded.
We'll have a professional photographer capturing every moment. Once the ceremony concludes, we'd love for you to snap photos, help us capture the joy of the evening from your perspective and celebrate the evening with us.
